Event Title Positive Intelligence: Why Only 20% of Teams and Individuals Achieve Their True Potential and How You Can Achieve Yours by Shirzad Chamine

Drawing on research from neuroscience, positive psychology, and emotional intelligence, Shirzad Chamine, the author of Positive Intelligence and the Chairman of the Coaching Training Institute (CTI), identifies the ‘saboteurs’ who consistently get in the way of achieving our full potential and describes how we can reduce their negative effect by increasing our positive intelligence.

You will learn to identify the ten saboteurs, how to mitigate the power of the saboteurs by developing a “sage mindset,” and use simple daily exercises to increase your “positive intelligence” level.  The book is replete with personal and client examples and the action steps to increasing your positive intelligence are easy to implement (once you get in the habit of remembering!).  I immediately applied what I learned in this book to assess a difficult decision I faced and have shared these concepts with clients, with extremely positive results.

As OD consultants and coaches, our passion is helping our individual and organization clients achieve their full potential.  The ideas laid out in Positive Intelligence provide a way to be immediately effective in helping them grapple with the changes they want to make.  Clients are often skeptical about the value of OD or coaching, and a simple discussion around the “saboteurs” can be enough to prove there are tangible results in our process.

Facilitator:

Jane Maliszewski
VAULT Associates

The great architects discovered that a vaulted structure can withstand more pressure, exhibit higher resilience, open up more space, and create a magnificent presence that soars above all other buildings. Jane founded VAULT to provide the structure for clients to discover inner leadership strength, build organization resilience and positively engage change so theyundefinedand their business–can soar to new heights.

Jane was drawn to coaching and consulting because she believes that every person deserves to love the work they do.  It should be a space where you feel valued, trusted, engaged, and encouraged to achieve. That vision of purpose and fulfillment drives her emphasis on leader development and organization effectiveness.  Jane specializes in working with technology leaders and organizations to help them develop their “soft” skills to be as strong as their hard skills.

Jane’s first career was in the U.S. Army in the technology field, culminating in promotion to Colonel and a position as the CIO for the Army’s Training and Doctrine Command.  This gave her a wide breadth of experiences in leadership, developing high performing organizations, and managing change in many diverse situations from small teams to large complex business transformations.

Her academic and professional credentials include: Masters in Business Administration, Masters in Strategic Studies, Bachelors in History and advanced professional certificates in: Leadership Coaching for Organization Performance from George Mason University, Organization Development and Change Leadership from Georgetown University, Knowledge Management, Chief Information Officer, and Lean Six Sigma.  She is a certified practitioner in: Emotional Intelligence EQi-2.0, MBTI, Strength Deployment Inventory (SDI), Personal Strengths Profile, FIRO Element-B, and TKI.  Jane is a Board Member and Committee Chair for the Women in Technology professional association and is an active member of ICF, CBODN, and the Institute of Management Consultants.  She provides pro bono coaching support to Semper Fi Odyssey, a non-profit military transition program.
