Program Description:
Words have the power to change everything. When we weave words into stories, a clear picture unfolds and we make meaning in our thoughts and understanding that can develop into a mindset. In an interactive presentation, we’ll experience tapping into our own narrative and how it impacts us and when working with others (i.e., Use of Self). We’ll use a creative and artistic approach to explore selfawareness, perception, and behavior. Learn about the transformative narrative process and possible applications in our work. You will:

• be introduced to the emerging work of transformative narratives;
• write your own cultural story;
• practice narrative listening; and
• walk away with basic tools to use in your work.

Through a transformative narrative approach, experiment with literature, reflective practice,
imagination, and story sharing to develop a deeper awareness for how:

1. We carry stories that comprise a narrative that constructs identity--of self, team, organizations and as practitioners, our clients. Explore what of our personal history has shaped our story?

2. We live storied lives, so a key use of self is to become aware of a narrative that may have outlived its usefulness and hone in on emerging stories that facilitate a newer presence effectiveness. Begin to grapple with who am I today and what is my work?

3. We have the power to change our narrative.
