Facilitators: Sheila Haji and Carole Lyles Shaw

Sheila Haji, founder of Common Ground Consulting Services Inc., is a dynamic consultant, trainer, and executive coach specializing in leadership and organization development.  For more than twenty-five years, she has designed and delivered skill building workshops and strategic planning sessions that have helped literally thousands of executives, managers, and team members achieve key business results.  Having worked with senior leaders from Fortune 500 companies, global industries, and private sector organizations, Sheila has gained unique insights about the attributes that distinguish outstanding performers from average contributors.  Now, more than ever before, leadership presence--the ability to connect with and inspire others to take action--has emerged as a key success factor for employees at all levels.

Carole Lyles Shaw is founder of the Columbia Resource Group, a consulting company with a focus on leadership and team development programs.  She is passionate about helping leaders and their teams grapple with their most important strategic and operational dilemmas.  Carole believes that the way to do this is for the team and their leaders to have difficult conversations that are avoided all too often.  Carole works with the team and facilitates those conversations, using a mix of challenge, support and skill-building.  As a result, her clients find that their teams can build deeper relationships and make a sustainable commitment to resolving complex issues.   Prior to launching her consulting firm, Carole served as an HR executive for Citicorp and other private sector firms.  She also served as Director for graduate programs in Leadership and Organizational Development for Johns Hopkins University School of Business. Carole holds an MBA from Columbia University and has served on the faculty of Loyola University Maryland Sellinger School of Business.   Carole continues to teach in masters programs for several universities.  Recently, she was invited to create an MBA course on Virtual Teams, one of the first such courses offered at the University level.

Carole is also a professional studio artist and works in mixed media, collage and textile art. She exhibits her artwork in the U.S. and internationally, and her work has been featured in several anthologies on contemporary art.
