Topic: Mindsets Matter: The Art and Science of Changing Minds

Presenter:  Chuck Appleby

Chuck Appleby is the founder of Appleby & Associates, an OD consulting firm based in Vienna, VA. Chuck has an insatiable appetite for finding simple and fun ways to help make change happen in organizations. His passion is helping groups find innovative ways to solve tough business challenges and create great places to work. More often than not, he is working in leadership development programs in which a tough challenge is given to a group to solve. He integrates several approaches in his work including, action learning, peer coaching, and design thinking. He is currently working on OD and coaching projects with Arlington County, Goodwill Industries International, John Hancock, and the World Bank Group. Chuck is an Adjunct Faculty member at Georgetown University and The George Washington University.

Program:
As coaches and OD consultants we are all faced with a host of challenges getting in the way of client efforts to achieve success and fulfillment. Often we focus on how to change behaviors—either stopping unhelpful behaviors or fostering virtuous behaviors. Increasingly the notion of changing mindsets has emerged—in no small measure because of the work of Carol Dweck and her ground-breaking work, Mindset: The New Psychology of Success. This interactive session will focus on the power of shifting mindsets as a means of unleashing vital behaviors that lead to success. Participants will come away with a deeper understanding of the power of mindsets in making change happen and exposure to tools from a variety of fields including Neuroscience, Cognitive Psychology, Social Psychology, and NLP.

New Policy for people who are “no-shows”
Since we have terrific programs scheduled for this year, we want to provide an opportunity for as many attendees as possible.  To enable us to fill openings please email me at least before 10 a.m. the day of the meeting, Tuesday, if you will not be able to attend so I can contact those who email that day to be on the waiting list.  From now on those who are 'no-shows' will  be placed on the waiting list for future meetings until we have openings.  If you contact me after 10 a.m. I may still be able to fill your opening although it doesn't provide much notice for those on the waiting list.

Cancellation policy: If session is cancelled Peggy Linden will send out an email announcement.  If schools or libraries are closed this meeting will be cancelled also.
