Topic: Innovation, Risk and Your Mind

Deloitte's new CEO, Cathy Engelbert, in a recent interview in the Post, stated 95% of innovation spending ends in failure. Yet she plans on doubling her firm spending on innovation in 3 years. Even with the current track record Engelbert wants to know if her firm is moving quickly enough and spending enough in this area. She is not the only CEO asking how to spur more innovation. Jim Kim, President of the World Bank, a couple of weeks ago told Bank staff they won't achieve their goals for reducing global poverty without more innovation and the risk taking.

if we look at our own goals and aspirations how far out in front of conventional thinking are we willing to stretch? Innovation demands we enter the realm of the unknown. Being in the dark can induce anxiety. How uncomfortable are we willing to be when it comes to not knowing? Will others scoff at our ideas or even us?

Sometimes innovation is an idea just waiting to be acted upon. 3D printing and data phones have been around for a while. But until the founder of Feetz went for a made-to-order coffee at Starbucks after trying on a bunch of shoes that did not fit was she inspired to combine the iphone and 3D printing to make customized shoes online.

April 17 we will look at how to use the systemic approach as a tool to enhance our own or our clients innovation and risk taking. Is our inner "risk manager" too conservative? Is our mind so noisy or in a rut we can't hear or think a new thought? Can our creative side come out and play?

We will explore these and other questions about the process of innovation and our inner innovator through an experiential method known as organizational/systemic constellations. You are welcome to join us!

Come be a part of a dynamic and transformative afternoon.
