VACANT

About the Role

The Director of Volunteers should possess a knowledge of, and experience in, the management of volunteers. This role is critically responsible for the sourcing, recruiting, and retention of CBODN’s volunteers, assessing the needs of CBODN and identifying opportunities for volunteer work.

Ideally, the person in this role will research best practices used by other nonprofit and volunteer-based organizations for the recruiting and retention of volunteers.  With other Board members, and with other knowledgeable individuals, the Volunteer Director will develop profiles for individuals to fill vacancies.

This role is ideally suited for someone interested in recruiting, coaching, and coordinating the activities of an ad hoc search committee to identify and recruit volunteer leadership.  Other duties and function include:

Coordination:

  • Work closely with the other Board members to keep informed of their activities and where they can use volunteer help.
  • Work with the other Board members to grow each of their committees to include two or more people—the Annual Conference will require a significantly larger group.

Communications and Outreach:

  • Submit articles for the Communique and the CBODN website to announce volunteer opportunities and Board Vacancies.
  • Promote volunteering with CBODN at the Annual Conference, Communities of Practice, and Evening Programs.
  • Speak with potential new volunteers to ascertain their skills and interests, and introduce them to the appropriate Board member(s) whose functions and needs are the best fit.
  • Submit articles for the Communique and the CBODN website to welcome new Board members and new volunteers.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Community Engagement to assess and improve the potential for involving more volunteers from our community.
  • Develop and implement a plan for the recognition and thanking of volunteers to include at least one volunteer recognition event, thanks in the Communique and on the website, and recognition items such as plaques or certificates.

Other:

  • Carry out other duties as assigned by the President and/or the Board of Directors for the general welfare of CBODN.
  • Meet all requirements and expectations as set forth in the General Board of Directors Job Description.
